The little munchkins are now soundly up on all fours and playing with each other all the time. Teeth are coming in and they are SHARP with a Capitol S! It wont be long before I will have to have protective footwear on to clean out the pen. They are super cute at this age. Weaning has begun and the pups are all on soft kibble, giving Chai a much needed break. This is the age when it gets tricky to get good photos because they get so fast! So, these pictures are of quiet, sleeping, still puppies!
All 5 little wonders are fattening up and growing well. They are so sweet! I love the sound of the little wimpers that newborn puppies make. Chai is being a terrific mom and is also doing great. She has recovered from the birth and is focused on taking care of her crew. Haiden, our little girl is just about 2, and she just LOVES those babies. She wakes up in the morning and her first words are either "babies" or "puppies"...usually in the form of a question because she wants to know if she can go have a visit. She is very gentle with them because we have worked very hard to teach her to be gentle with animals right from day one. Our new show puppy, Piper, did great in Camrose this weekend, coming away with three points overall, and one breed win! She managed to take breed over some very nice experienced show dogs! Thanks to the judges and my co-handler, Chelsea.
Chai had an xray and she is carrying 5 little babies. We look forward to meeting the new additions very soon!
Wow...plus 4 degrees and sunny! You could feel the warmth of the sun for the first time in weeks...maybe even months! We took advantage of the gorgeous day and took some of our crew on two nice walks in the back woods. Did they ever love it!
Although its still winter and cold, and we have many feet of snow outside, the days are getting longer, and before we know it, spring will arrive. The bostons are starting to feel a bit stir crazy after months of cold, but are keeping busy with toys and lots of games of "tug-o-war" and "kill the stuffie!". We have moved from Calgary and now live on an acreage about an hour south of Edmonton, and spring, when it finally arrives, will be sooooooooooo much fun for these guys. They have 4 acres to explore and will enjoy every minute. Right now the property is not fenced, so we still have to be careful that they do not get into trouble, but we are planning to fence much of the perimeter this year. We have a shepherd puppy that comes for visits frequently, which does not impress our crew of bostons. He is a sweet puppy that now weighs probably about 80 to 90 lbs! Zeus LOVES to play and wishes that he could engage in some puppy games with our bostons.
